Recent Achievements (2020–2024)
2023:
Women of Global Change inducted into the Business Hall of Fame as “Best of 2023” in Aliso Viejo.
2021:
WGC received U.S. State Assembly and Congressional Awards at national, state, and local levels. Founder Dr. Dame Shellie Hunt honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by President Joe Biden for service and leadership worldwide.
2019:
WGC inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame for Organizational Leadership. WGC honored with the Award of Excellence by the Global Society of Female Entrepreneurs.
2018:
WGC awarded the Athena International Award for Organizational Leadership.
2016:
WGC received the President’s Award from the Women of Influence Awards for helping women globally.
2015–2020:
WGC honored with Humanitarianism and Excellence Awards from the White House for five consecutive years — presented by three different sitting U.S. Presidents. International Recognitions: WGC recognized by the Magistrate of Spain, the Dominican Republic , and other international governments for excellence in humanitarian leadership.
The Founding of Women of Global Change
Founded by Dr. Dame Shellie Hunt, Women of Global Change began as a movement to empower women leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers across the globe.
From its earliest days, WGC has been rooted in humanitarianism, leadership, business education, and sustainable community development — both locally and internationally.

Over the past two decades, WGC members and chapters have contributed to impactful humanitarian initiatives, including:
- Peddle for Pride Youth Programs (Lake County Park Projects)
- Burn’s Valley Middle School Playground Renovation
- Lower Lake Library and Senior Center Upgrades
- Clear Lake Women’s Safe House Renovations
- Lucerne Senior Center Service Projects (120+ hours)
- Operation Dream / Camp Choice (Co-Founded with San Francisco Police Department)
- San Francisco 49ers Toy Drive (12-year partnership)
- Skid Row Los Angeles Life Skills Workshops
- Weingart Shelter Fundraising Campaign ($120,000 raised)
Internationally, WGC has led projects in:
- Costa Rica: Village school programs
- Honduras: Infant Car Unit Shelters
- Fiji: Orphanage development
- Belize: School builds and supply deliveries
- Cairo: Children’s shelter support
St. Kitts: Multiple playground builds at William Conner Schools
